After more than 30 years of building and modifying guitars for myself and customers I have developed my own philosophy on good sounding guitars. As a blues and rock player I particularly like the vintage sound of the originals from the end of the 50's and early 60's; so my own guitars reflect that preference. My main focus is the combination of parts I select to harmonize with the wood on each and every individual guitar.

MAHOGANY/REDWOOD

Lightweight wood bodies sound really nice in the mid-range frequencies, but often, either dull in the trebles, or muddy in the bass frequencies. But light Redwood is good for humbucker sound, I use Sipo blanks for rock and heavy guitars, or Sapele if the weight is not so important. The sound is fat and beefy, perfect for rhythm and heavy riffs played with alot of distortion. Redwood bodies with Maple tops are classic, the Maple top gives a good proportion of brightness to the fat, warm tone and helps to compact the bass frequencies. Maple is also very decorative.

There are plenty of kids guitars on the market, either ½ size or ¾ size; but the problem with so many of them is that they are difficult to tune and then they do not stay in tune for long. The reason for this is the size and the poor quality parts used. Its a problem for the kids as how can they differentiate anything when the guitar is constantly going out of tune?!

We discover music from another side, relying on little theory and more feeling and ear training. Firstly we learn the place of each instrument. Drums and bass are the basis of modern music, we then bring in guitar, keyboard and voice. Every 20 minutes the students change instruments.

First few lessons are one to one then you will be joined to a suitable group of similar age.
