After more than 30 years of building and modifying guitars for myself and customers I have developed my own philosophy on good sounding guitars. As a blues and rock player I particularly like the vintage sound of the originals from the end of the 50's and early 60's; so my own guitars reflect that preference. My main focus is the combination of parts I select to harmonize with the wood on each and every individual guitar.

After searching a long time for the right pickups I now mostly use vintage single coil pickups on the neck for a real twang; transparent, clean, punchy, bright, but warm sound (like the old Strats).

The singing, warm tones of the old P.A.F.s (Les Pauls) in the bridge position is done with an Alnico 2 humbucker.

In the 70's I tried Gibson P.A.F.s on Strats, and single coils on Les Pauls - it worked, but it was not really THE THING. Later I found out that Alder and Ash bodies are a good choice for Strat single coils, but not for Gibson humbucker, and that Mahogony with Maple top, (Les Pauls), are not perfect for Strat pickups.

Experimenting with different wood showed me that another concept was needed to combine Strat and Gibson sound on ONE guitar. That is what I wanted to build! So I tried other combinations of wood not normally used on electric guitars and I found very interesting results

Over the last 10 years I have been building guitars from old wood, some being eighty years old, or more. This wood, especially from old ships that have been outside for many years, is my absolute favourite; the sound is unique. I put the single coil on the neck and the P.A.F. in the bridge position and it works.

NowI need just one guitar on stage.  Clean sound and distortion both work very well. That is my vintage sound concept.

Some of my models are hollow; they are thicker and some parts inside are solid for sonic reasons.  The inside design changes the sound character alot.
